Biological Activity

ML213 is a selective potassium channel opener targeting KCNQ2 (Kv7.2, EC50 = 230 nM) and KCNQ4 (Kv7.4, EC50 = 510 nM). By augmenting M-currents mediated by Kv7 channels, ML213 enhances membrane hyperpolarization and reduces neuronal hyperexcitability. This activation modulates signaling across neuronal circuits, suppressing repetitive action potential firing and demonstrating protective activity in models of epilepsy and pain disorders.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
