MitoTracker Green FM is a green fluorescent dye that selectively accumulates in the mitochondrial matrix. It covalently binds mitochondrial proteins by reacting with free thiol groups on cysteine residues, enabling mitochondrial staining independent of membrane potential. This selective accumulation allows fluorescence-based visualization of mitochondrial morphology, mass, and dynamics in living or fixed cells across diverse cellular assays. [1]
