Mifepristone (RU-486) is a synthetic steroid acting as a potent antagonist of the progesterone receptor and glucocorticoid receptor. By competitively binding to these receptors, mifepristone inhibits progestin and glucocorticoid signaling pathways, blocking receptor-mediated gene transcription. This inhibition suppresses cell survival pathways, promoting autophagy and apoptosis in targeted cell lines. Mifepristone is widely utilized to investigate nuclear receptor signaling mechanisms in reproductive and endocrine research models.

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
