Biological Activity

MID-1 is a small-molecule disruptor targeting the interaction between mitsugumin 53 (MG53) and insulin receptor substrate-1 (IRS-1). By disrupting the molecular association of MG53 with IRS-1, MID-1 abolishes MG53-induced IRS-1 ubiquitination and degradation in skeletal muscle. Consequently, this inhibition elevates IRS-1 expression levels, leading to enhanced downstream insulin signaling and increased glucose uptake. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
