Biological Activity

Methyllycaconitine citrate (MLA) is a selective antagonist of the α7 neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR). By selectively blocking α7nAChR activation, it inhibits receptor-mediated calcium influx and downstream cholinergic signaling pathways. This blockade modulates neurotransmitter release and cellular plasticity, providing a useful biological probe for studying neurodegenerative conditions and cognitive impairment associated with Alzheimer's disease.
