Mefenamic Acid is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory compound that acts as a competitive inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and COX-2. By blocking COX activity, Mefenamic Acid prevents the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins such as PGE2, thereby downregulating inflammatory signaling pathways. This inhibition reduces downstream pro-inflammatory mediator production and modulates cellular responses associated with inflammation and cell proliferation. [1]
