MCT-IN-1 is a potent and selective monocarboxylate transporter inhibitor targeting monocarboxylate transporter 1 (MCT1) and monocarboxylate transporter 4 (MCT4). Monocarboxylate transporters mediate lactate transport across cellular membranes to maintain tumor metabolism and intracellular pH homeostasis. Blockade of MCT1 and MCT4 by MCT-IN-1 inhibits lactate efflux, leading to intracellular acidification, disrupted metabolic homeostasis, and reduced cancer cell viability, highlighting its utility in research on overcoming multidrug resistance in cancer.
