Biological Activity

MAO-B-IN-2 is a halogenated coumarin-chalcone derivative functioning as a selective and competitive inhibitor of monoamine oxidase-B (MAO-B, IC50 = 0.51 μM) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE, IC50 = 7.00 μM). By inhibiting MAO-B and BChE enzyme activities, MAO-B-IN-2 regulates neurochemical catabolic pathways and demonstrates reactive oxygen species scavenging effects, thereby attenuating hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress and cellular damage. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
