Biological Activity

Luteolin-7-O-glucuronide is a plant-derived flavone glycoside that acts as an inhibitor of transforming growth factor beta-activated kinase 1 (TAK1). In lipopolysaccharide-stimulated macrophages, TAK1 suppression leads to reduced downstream activation of the NF-kB, p38, and JNK signaling pathways, decreasing the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators including iNOS, COX-2, and TNF-α. Furthermore, it promotes Nrf2 activation to enhance antioxidant enzyme expression and attenuate cellular oxidative stress. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
