Biological Activity

Lisinopril is a synthetic peptide derivative that functions as a potent inhibitor of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). By selectively inhibiting ACE, it blocks the conversion of angiotensin I to the potent vasoconstrictor angiotensin II, leading to reduced systemic vascular resistance and decreased aldosterone secretion. This suppression of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system attenuates vascular smooth muscle contraction, lowers blood pressure, and reduces cardiac workload. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
