Biological Activity
Lenalidomide hemihydrate is an immunomodulatory compound and potent inhibitor of TNF-alpha production. As a ligand for cereblon (CRBN), it engages the CRBN-CRL4 ubiquitin ligase complex to induce the selective ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of lymphoid transcription factors IKZF1 and IKZF3. This targeted protein degradation disrupts transcription factor networks, resulting in anti-myeloma activity and modulation of immune cell responses. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
