Biological Activity

Lavofloxacin lactate is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that targets bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV. By trapping enzyme-DNA cleavage complexes during bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair, it causes double-strand DNA breaks. This disruption of bacterial DNA processing halts cell division and leads to broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. [1][2]
