Biological Activity

Lavendustin B is a small-molecule inhibitor of protein tyrosine kinases, glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1), and the interaction between HIV-1 integrase and its cellular cofactor lens epithelium-derived growth factor (LEDGF/p75). By disrupting the assembly of the HIV-1 integrase-LEDGF/p75 complex, it impairs viral integration and replication mechanisms. Additionally, inhibition of GLUT1 disrupts cellular glucose uptake, modulating metabolic and signaling pathways essential for cell growth.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
