Biological Activity

Landiolol hydrochloride is an ultra-short-acting, highly selective β1-adrenoceptor antagonist. By selectively binding to and inhibiting β1-adrenergic receptors, it blocks catecholamine-mediated activation of Gs protein-coupled receptor signaling and inhibits adenylate cyclase. The subsequent reduction in intracellular cyclic AMP (cAMP) levels suppresses sympathetic signaling in cardiomyocytes, leading to attenuated heart rate and cardiac contractile responses without significantly affecting vascular β2-adrenoceptors. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
