L(-)-Pipecolinic acid is an endogenous amino acid metabolite and a central intermediate in the L-lysine catabolic pathway in mammals. As a naturally occurring derivative of proline, L(-)-pipecolinic acid present in human blood modulates central nervous system activity through interaction with GABAergic signaling pathways. Elevated levels of L(-)-pipecolinic acid are associated with peroxisomal metabolic disorders, highlighting its critical involvement in human amino acid homeostasis and neuronal synaptic regulation.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
