L-Ornithine L-aspartate is a stable amino acid salt consisting of L-ornithine and L-aspartic acid that acts as a key substrate for ammonia detoxification. It promotes the urea cycle in hepatocytes and stimulates glutamine synthetase activity in skeletal muscle, driving the conversion of ammonia and glutamate into glutamine. This enhancement of metabolic ammonia clearance reduces systemic hyperammonemia and prevents neurotoxic astrocyte swelling. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
