Biological Activity

L-Leucyl-L-alanine Hydrate is a dipeptide metabolite and a substrate for proton-coupled oligopeptide transporters PEPT1 (SLC15A1) and PEPT2 (SLC15A2). Cellular uptake of this dipeptide through proton-coupled peptide transport pathways mediates intracellular nutrient influx. Following transport, intracellular hydrolysis by cytosolic peptidases yields constituent amino acids, directly supporting amino acid metabolism and protein synthesis pathways in target tissues. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
