(-)-Chicoric acid is a naturally occurring caffeic acid derivative that acts as a potent inhibitor of HIV-1 integrase with broad antiviral, anti-cancer, and anti-diabetic activities. It suppresses viral integration and replication while modulating key cellular signaling pathways, including NF-kB, AMPK, and AKT/mTOR. Through these mechanisms, (-)-Chicoric acid reduces oxidative stress, inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokine production, and improves glucose homeostasis in various cell models. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
