Biological Activity

L-Ascorbic acid 2-phosphate sesquimagnesium salt hydrate is a stable vitamin C derivative. In human osteoblastic cells and stem cells, it increases alkaline phosphatase activity and upregulates the transcription factor Runx2, facilitating extracellular matrix accumulation and promoting osteogenic differentiation. Additionally, it stimulates collagen synthesis, including type III collagen expression, which accelerates cell proliferation and supports osteoblast maturation during bone tissue development.[1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
