Biological Activity

L-778123 hydrochloride is a potent dual inhibitor of farnesyl protein transferase (FPTase, IC50 2 nM) and geranylgeranyl protein transferase I (GGPTase-I, IC50 98 nM). By blocking protein prenylation, it inhibits the post-translational processing of target proteins including RAS and RHO family GTPases, disrupting downstream oncogenic signaling cascades and suppressing tumor cell proliferation while displaying promising anti-leukemia activity.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
