Biological Activity

KY-226 is an orally active, allosteric inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B). By targeting PTP1B, it prevents the dephosphorylation of key signaling proteins involved in metabolic regulation. This inhibition enhances downstream insulin and leptin receptor signaling pathways, promoting cellular glucose uptake and metabolic homeostasis. Consequently, attenuation of PTP1B function suppresses metabolic dysfunction, exerting anti-diabetic and anti-obesity biological effects. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
