Biological Activity

Kirenol is a natural diterpenoid isolated from Herba Siegesbeckiae that functions as an anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic agent. It attenuates inflammatory responses by suppressing the NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways, thereby downregulating the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6. Additionally, Kirenol exhibits anti-oxidant and anti-adipogenic activities, mitigating joint inflammation and tissue damage in collagen-induced arthritis models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
