Biological Activity

Kevetrin hydrochloride is a water-soluble small molecule that acts as an activator of the tumor suppressor protein p53. Activation of p53 induces downstream signaling pathways, leading to upregulation of p53 target genes, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis in cancer cells. Through these mechanisms, Kevetrin hydrochloride modulates the p53 pathway to impair tumor cell growth and survival, demonstrating antineoplastic activity. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
