Biological Activity

Kaurenoic acid is a natural diterpenoid that acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by suppressing the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). Downstream, attenuation of these enzymes suppresses the production of pro-inflammatory mediators, including nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2, through inhibition of NF-kB pathway signaling. Consequently, kaurenoic acid attenuates cellular inflammatory responses in macrophage models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
