Isorhapontigenin is a natural stilbene derivative and antioxidant isolated from Belamcanda chinensis. In interleukin-1β-stimulated rat chondrocytes, it suppresses key inflammatory mediators, including nitric oxide, inducible nitric oxide synthase, prostaglandin E2, and cyclooxygenase-2, as well as catabolic enzymes such as matrix metalloproteinases and ADAMTS5. Mechanistically, isorhapontigenin suppresses MAPK/ERK and MAPK/p38 pathways to attenuate cartilage matrix degradation and preserve extracellular matrix integrity. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
