Biological Activity

Isomaltulose hydrate is a disaccharide carbohydrate composed of glucose and fructose linked by an α-1,6-glycosidic bond. It functions as a slow-release substrate for intestinal α-glucosidase enzymes, particularly the sucrase-isomaltase complex. Enzymatic cleavage of this α-1,6 linkage occurs at a lower rate than α-1,2-linked sucrose, leading to gradual disaccharide hydrolysis, sustained systemic glucose delivery, and balanced carbohydrate metabolism. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
