Biological Activity

Isoliensinine is a natural bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid that functions as a bioactive agent with anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fibrotic properties. It induces apoptosis and autophagy in cancer cells through the generation of reactive oxygen species and activation of the p38 MAPK and JNK signaling pathways while suppressing the AKT/mTOR pathway. These molecular mechanisms lead to inhibited cell proliferation, attenuated inflammatory responses, and reduced fibrotic progression in preclinical models. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
