IPTG (Isopropyl β-D-thiogalactoside) is a non-metabolizable galactose derivative and molecular mimic of allolactose that functions as an inducer of the lac operon. By binding to the lac repressor protein (LacI), IPTG induces a conformational change that reduces repressor affinity for the operator DNA. This derepression activates transcription of downstream genes under lac promoter control, widely facilitating recombinant protein expression in bacterial systems. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
