Biological Activity

Imiquimod hydrochloride is a small-molecule immune response modifier that acts as a potent agonist of toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7). Activation of TLR7 engages MyD88-dependent signaling pathways, promoting the activation of NF-kB and the subsequent production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and antiviral proteins. These downstream cellular responses mediate robust antitumoral and antiviral efficacy against viral infections and cutaneous malignancies. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
