Biological Activity

Bomedemstat (IMG-7289) is an orally active and irreversible inhibitor of lysine-specific demethylase 1 (LSD1). By blocking LSD1 activity, it increases global methylation levels of histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) and lysine 9 (H3K9), resulting in altered gene expression profiles. These epigenetic modifications lead to the inhibition of cancer cell proliferation and the induction of apoptosis, exhibiting potent anti-cancer activity. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
