Biological Activity

iMDK is a small-molecule inhibitor targeting phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) and the growth factor midkine (MDK). Inhibition of MDK downregulates PI3K/AKT signaling, thereby suppressing proliferation and inducing apoptosis in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. Furthermore, iMDK cooperates with MEK inhibitors to attenuate tumorigenesis in KRAS-mutant and squamous NSCLC models while displaying minimal toxicity to normal human cells.[1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
