IM-54 is a selective inhibitor of oxidative stress-induced cell necrosis that exhibits potent inhibitory activity against hydrogen peroxide-induced necrotic cell death. The compound targets oxidative stress pathways without affecting apoptosis induced by anticancer drugs or caspase-dependent death ligands. Consequently, IM-54 prevents cellular damage and preserves cell viability under severe oxidative stress conditions, serving as a valuable probe for dissecting non-apoptotic cell death mechanisms.[1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
