Ibandronate sodium monohydrate is a nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate that acts as a potent inhibitor of farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase (FPPS) within the mevalonate pathway. By inhibiting FPPS, ibandronate impairs the post-translational prenylation of key signaling GTPases, including Ras, Rho, and Rac. This disruption impairs cytoskeletal organization, ruffled border formation, and cell survival in osteoclasts, ultimately suppressing osteoclast-mediated bone resorption and reducing overall bone turnover. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
