IAMA-6 is a potent, selective, and orally bioavailable inhibitor of the Na-K-2Cl cotransporter 1 (NKCC1). By targeting NKCC1, it regulates intracellular chloride homeostasis and restores physiological GABAergic inhibitory neurotransmission. This restoration modulates neuronal circuit excitability, resulting in enhanced synaptic plasticity and potential attenuation of cognitive impairment in neurodevelopmental conditions, including Down syndrome and autism.
