Biological Activity

Hispidulin is a naturally occurring flavone that acts as an inhibitor of Pim-1 kinase. It exerts potent antineoplastic activity by suppressing cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis through mitochondrial dysfunction and inhibition of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway in HepG2 cancer cells. Furthermore, hispidulin exhibits anti-osteoporotic effects and attenuates osteoclast-mediated bone resorption via activation of the AMPK signaling pathway. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
