Biological Activity

H-Gly-Pro-OH (Glycyl-L-proline) is a naturally occurring dipeptide and a substrate involved in collagen metabolism. It undergoes cleavage by prolidase (peptidase D) to liberate free proline, which is subsequently reutilized for protein synthesis, collagen resynthesis, and cellular matrix remodeling. Additionally, Gly-Pro serves as an endogenous transport substrate for proton-coupled oligopeptide transporters like PEPT1, contributing to intestinal peptide absorption and cellular amino acid homeostasis. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
