H-89 is a potent and selective inhibitor of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) that displays weak inhibition against other protein kinases including PKG and PKC. By blocking PKA-mediated phosphorylation events, H-89 impairs cAMP-dependent signaling cascades. Consequently, treatment with H-89 disrupts downstream cellular processes such as forskolin-induced neurite outgrowth, gene transcription, and metabolic regulation. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
