Biological Activity
Gypenoside L is a natural dammarane-type saponin derived from Gynostemma pentaphyllum that acts as a promoter of cellular senescence. It increases senescence-associated β-galactosidase activity, stimulates senescence-associated cytokine production, and suppresses lipopolysaccharide-induced nitric oxide production. Mechanistically, Gypenoside L induces S-phase cell cycle arrest and upregulates p21 and p27 expression through the activation of p38 MAPK, ERK/MAPK, and NF-κB signaling pathways. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
