Biological Activity

GV-58 is a selective agonist of N-type and P/Q-type voltage-gated Ca2+ channels. Compared to roscovitine, GV-58 exhibits a 3- to 4-fold more potent Ca2+ channel agonist effect with reduced cyclin-dependent kinase inhibition. By slowing channel deactivation, GV-58 increases presynaptic Ca2+ influx during activity, promoting synaptic vesicle fusion and neurotransmitter release at neuromuscular junctions to strengthen synaptic transmission. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
