Biological Activity

GSK3368715 3HCl is a potent inhibitor of type I protein arginine methyltransferases (PRMT), targeting PRMT1, PRMT3, PRMT4, PRMT6, and PRMT8. By blocking type I PRMT activity, it reduces cellular asymmetric dimethylarginine levels, leading to cell cycle arrest and suppression of cancer cell proliferation. These pathway disruptions impair tumor growth in preclinical cancer models, particularly in PRMT5-deficient backgrounds.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
