Biological Activity

GSKactive metabolite is a potent inhibitor of receptor-interacting protein-2 (RIP2) kinase. By binding to RIP2 kinase, it blocks NOD2-mediated signaling, which downregulates downstream NF-κB and mitogen-activated protein kinase pathways. This inhibition reduces the downstream secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, making it a key tool for researching immune-mediated inflammatory diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
