Biological Activity

GSK199 is a reversible and selective inhibitor of peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PAD4) with an IC50 ofin the absence of calcium. By inhibiting PAD4, GSK199 blocks histone citrullination and prevents neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation. These targeted effects impair inflammatory responses and autoimmune signaling, making GSK199 a valuable chemical probe for studying autoimmune, cardiovascular, and oncological diseases. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
