GSK1016790A is a potent activator of transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) channels. Activation of TRPV4 by GSK1016790A induces intracellular calcium influx, leading to downstream activation of calcium-dependent signaling pathways, modulation of endothelial cell function, and stimulation of urinary bladder smooth muscle contraction. These physiological responses make GSK1016790A a valuable tool for investigating TRPV4 channel kinetics and calcium-mediated cellular processes. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
