Biological Activity
Glucosyl-vitexin is a naturally occurring C-glycosylflavone derivative isolated from millet that acts as an inhibitor of thyroid peroxidase (TPO). By suppressing TPO-mediated iodination and coupling reactions during thyroid hormone biosynthesis, glucosyl-vitexin disrupts the production of thyroxine and triiodothyronine. This inhibition impairs thyroid gland function, contributing to anti-thyroid cellular responses and goitrogenic effects in thyroid tissue. [1]
