Biological Activity
Glafenine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and non-narcotic analgesic that functions as a proteostasis modulator and inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in the arachidonic acid pathway. By restoring protein trafficking, it rescues class 2 cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) mutants, such as F508del-CFTR. Consequently, glafenine mitigates inflammatory signalling cascades and restores epithelial ion transport function in cellular models. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
