GFB-8438 is a potent and subtype-selective transient receptor potential canonical (TRPC) channel inhibitor that targets TRPC4 and TRPC5. It demonstrates high selectivity for TRPC4 and TRPC5 over TRPC6, other TRP channel family members, and NaV1.5, with minimal activity against hERG channels. By blocking TRPC4/5-mediated calcium influx, GFB-8438 suppresses downstream calcium signaling pathways, helping maintain cellular homeostasis and protecting against calcium overload-induced cytotoxicity.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
