Biological Activity

Gemigliptin is a potent, selective dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4) inhibitor with a Ki of 7.25 nM and exhibits at least 23,000-fold selectivity for DPP-4 over related enzymes including DPP-8, DPP-9, and fibroblast activation protein-α. Inhibition of DPP-4 prevents the enzymatic cleavage and degradation of active glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which in turn enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon release, ultimately improving glucose tolerance and lowering blood glucose levels. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
