Biological Activity

Garcinone D is a natural xanthone that functions as an activator of the STAT3/Cyclin D1 and Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathways and an inhibitor of the CDK2/Cyclin E1 complex. Activation of STAT3 and Nrf2/HO-1 promotes neural stem cell proliferation and enhances cellular antioxidant pathways. Additionally, suppression of CDK2/Cyclin E1 signaling blocks tumor cell cycle progression in prostate and breast cancer models. [1]
