Biological Activity

G6PD activator AG1 is a small-molecule activator of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) that enhances the enzymatic activity of wild-type and mutant G6PD variants. By targeting G6PD within the pentose phosphate pathway, it increases NADPH production and reduces oxidative stress in cells, zebrafish, and human erythrocytes. These actions mitigate reactive oxygen species accumulation and cellular damage, making it a valuable tool for research on G6PD enzymopathies. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
