FM1-43 is a cationic, lipophilic styryl dye widely utilized as a fluorescent probe for tracking membrane dynamics and vesicle trafficking. Upon binding to the outer leaflet of lipid bilayers, its fluorescence intensity increases significantly, enabling real-time visualization of endocytosis, exocytosis, and synaptic vesicle recycling.
